It all started at age 9 when I joined my two brothers as we dabbled a worm on a hook in a nearby creek…I hooked and landed my first fish…a 4 inch chub!

We explored the remote feeder stream to the local water reservoir in a small town in eastern Pennsylvania in our quest for the big prize, the super skittish, elusive native brook trout in all its beautiful color!
It was the same magnet that has pulled me relentlessly since those early days…it has stayed undiminished in strength over the last 75 years.
My brothers and I were gifted a fly tying starter kit one Chrisrtmas Day. We all tried it. My brothers lacked faith in fishing for trout with flies, but, I, as the youngest, relished the challenge . I caught my first trout on one of my fly creations from a little country creek ….I was ecstatic …… now hooked forever on fly fishing!
College years and the early years of my professional life as an optical engineer drew me to urban life……no trout streams in sight …how I missed that! Fate turned my way when I lost my job in the city, but found a better one in a location with trout streams nearby!
Most of my fishing has taken place on the Deerfield River which is in my backyard here in Deerfield, MA but I have had the good fortune to be able to venture out to some of the well known streams in New England and out west in Montana.
Fly tying and perfecting my tackle have been on-going hobbies. The Leader Tamer leader tippet material holder and the Split Shot Tamer split shot dispenser found in this site are two examples.
